Iver2(em) – Mobile Sensor Platform

A NEW SENSOR SOLUTION FOR COASTAL ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING
Iver2 -- Third Generation Iver AUV

A powerful system for collecting water quality data has been jointly developed by OceanServer Technology, and YSI Environmental. The OceanServer Iver2 AUV, has been instrumented with YSI Environmental’s proven 6-Series Sensors, to provide researchers and scientists a complete solution (EcoMapper) for collecting and logging data from up to 10 water quality sensors. The vehicle is designed to travel over a wide area without support from a workboat or associated staff for rapid water quality and bathymetry mapping applications. Intuitive Mission Planning Software allows a single user to quickly design and execute survey missions, and later retrieve the geo-referenced data for post processing or analysis in YSI EcoWatch® for Windows® software.

MISSION PLANNING SOFTWARE – Intuitive GUI Interface

  • Simple to use waypoint-based navigation and mission planning
  • Select any NOAA or USGS Chart in GEO/NOS format (even geo-referenced satellite images)
  • Operator selects measurement depths, speed, sensors, poling frequency, etc.
  • Software creates data files to run the mission and organize logging for easy retrieval
  • Programmed surveys can be terminated or modified anytime the vehicle surfaces
  • Easily reconfigurable for new missions or sensors (defined software interfaces)

Example Mission ~ Dissolved Oxygen (DO) Data

Following a mission, the data from the Vehicle can be quickly downloaded and processed to provide water quality information.  Below is an example of  the dissolved oxygen data collected from the mission shown. On the left side of the bottom image you can clearly see the plume from the outflow pipe and how it enters and mixes into the reservoir.
